Lindsay Lohan Judge Recuses Herself From the Case

    David Tonnessen/ PacificCoastNews.com

While she cleans up her act, Lindsay Lohan at least won't have to worry about one person breathing down her neck.

Marsha Revel, the Los Angeles Judge who came down hard on the troubled starlet and sent her to jail for failing to abide by the terms of her probation, has recused herself from Lohan's case after prosecutors raised objections to her handling of the case.

"Judge Revel recused herself from this case on Friday," said Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini. "We can't confirm any reason. It's [been] reassigned to Judge [Elden] Fox."

E! News has learned that Revel was pressured by prosecutors into removing herself from overseeing Lindsay's probation.

According to a source, there was a meeting last Friday between District Attorney Danette Meyers, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley and Her Honor where the prosecutor objected to Revel making several phone calls to a rehab clinic without her being present for the communications.

The DA's office took specific issue with the judge selecting the Morningside treatment facility, which was not on the list of recommended facilities for the 24-year-old actress once she was released from the slammer. Instead, Meyers suggested UCLA as the best place for Lohan.

"UCLA was always the first choice for the DA," says the source.

In addition, the source also tells E! News another factor in Revel's decision to step down was when O.J. Simpson Dream Teamer  Robert Shapiro, who wasn't even Lohan's attorney of record (but was reportedly representing her), showed up at the courthouse without the district attorney present.

In legal proceedings, usually a judge cannot meet with one side without the other side being present.

Meyers was reportedly all set to file official paperwork formally objecting to Revel remaining on the case when the latter excused herself.

"Bottom line is we objected and she took herself off the case," added the source.

Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox will now take over. He's had quite a bit of experience handling celebrities scofflaws, having presided over former Prison Break star Lane Garrison's manslaughter case and Winona Ryder's infamous shoplifting trial. (eonline.com)

Lindsay Lohan: Ninja Secret Muse Campaign

Lindsay Lohan Marc Ecko Ninja Secret Muse
Lindsay Lohan preferred to hide behind a Ninja mask this time around for a photo-shoot for Marc Ecko secret “Muse” Campaign, as reported by TMZ. The reason she chose to hide behind mask is that Marc had to keep this secret, even though the pictures have been shot in May.

The reason Lindsay’s trouble with drugs and her Jail and now rehab. However every brand she has been associated with is taking advantage of this time as she has been in the news than ever before. There’s hardly a day when she is not in the news.

Lindsay has recently also done Inferno, Loobook Fall, Maxim, GQ Germany, Underground Comedy Trailer, Complex and Machete. So it’s a lot of work that she did before going to jail.

Lindsay Lohan Getting Special Treatment In Jail?

    Lindsay Lohan

starpulse.com - It's hardly a surprise that a celebrity is getting special treatment. However, the inmates at Lynwood Correctional Facility in Los Angeles are apparently infuriated at the perks Lindsay Lohan is getting since her arrival.

Lohan was able to have visitors her first day in jail - her sister Ali and her mother Dina dropped by - even though prisoners are only allowed visits on weekends. Her jail cell was specially cleaned and set up for her, and it sounds like a hotel room: a nice bed, a TV, and a dresser for her clothes.

A prisoner released days after Lohan's arrival told the New York Daily News: "She's getting special treatment. Some inmates were getting pissy over it."

Lohan could spend as little as 14 days of her 90 day sentence in jail, due to overcrowding and good behavior.

Lindsay's Locked Up; Daddy's on the Town

Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan Suffolk County Police Dept.; AP Photo/Nick Ut

As Lindsay faced her first night in jail, Michael Lohan blew off steam by hitting Skybar last night.

Papa Lo, who's reportedly staying at the Mondrian while in L.A., was spotted hanging with a small entourage at the hotel's lounge Tuesday—at one point dancing with a blond mystery woman who wasn't fiancée Kate Major.

But it wasn't all about getting down. Michael said he plans to visit Lindsay in jail and is extremely concerned about her being allowed to continue to her prescription medication regime. "If you're already taking something when you get in there, they let you keep it taking it every day," he explained of the prison's stance on prescriptions. "She needs help getting off those."

He's also upset about how lawyer Robert Shapiro handled the case...

"He didn't even file an appeal," Michael complained, adding that the lawyer put Lindsay in his sober living facility but failed to file an appeal that could delay or shorten her jail time.

Michael said he also feels badly for his other daughter, Ali, who broke down during her sister's sentencing and is very upset about the situation. So upset that shortly after this exchange, Michael left Skybar, claiming he "couldn't be there thinking of Linds in a cell."

Lindsay Lohan Surrenders, Begins 90-Day Jail Sentence

    Lindsay Lohan, Mugshot Lindsay Lohan
In the end, it didn't matter which lawyer represented her in court, how late she was (seven minutes), what was painted on her fingernails, or how much she pouted in front of the judge.

Lindsay Lohan is going to jail.

Flanked by reluctantly reunited attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, mother Dina and, despite her deepest wishes, father Michael, Lindsay surrendered to the court this morning to begin serving a three-month sentence which, in reality, is expected to top out at something much nearer to two weeks.

You know what they say, 90 days is the new 84 minutes.

As previously announced, Judge Marsha Revel did not allow the media scrum in the courtroom to capture the exact moment of LiLo's surrender on camera (the girl deserves to maintain a little dignity, after all), ordering recordings to cease before having the 24-year-old actress handcuffed and taken into custody of the L.A. Sheriff's Department.

"At this time, she will be remanded to serve her sentence," the judge said. "At this point, all cameras are ordered to be shut off, both still and video."

Revel said that Lohan would not be eligible for house arrest or work release, that she would be required to report to probation within 24 hours of her release and that a status hearing would be set within a week of leaving jail.

Lohan, who wore a grey T-shirt and black blazer for the hearing, did not speak. (Not even before the hearing began, when an onlooker hurled a handful of gold glitter on her.)

Lindsay Lohan, Court Sketch Mona Shafer Edwards/AP

Immediately after the cameras were shut off, the five deputies on hand stepped up to take her into custody and remove her belongings.

Before she was taken away, her dad told her, "I love you, Lindsay."

Outside the courthouse, Michael did not speak, but his attorney, Lisa Bloom, told press that he spent the morning praying for his daughter, that he did not believe she should be incarcerated and that he will, as always, support her.

From here, as expected, Lindsay will begin processing at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, Calif., where she will spend her sentence.

Lohan left the courthouse through the back garage. Eschewing the traditional black-and-white county bus, Lindsay's getaway cars were two unmarked sedans.

"She was still wearing her sunglasses," an eyewitness told E! News. "She peeked up to see if anyone was around and then ducked back down. She was wearing the same clothes."

She then headed off to jail and first up is the processing phase of her stay—fingerprinting, photographing, cell assignment, SCRAM bracelet removal and kicky orange jumpsuit wardrobe change. Back in 2007, Lohan barely got through that part, spending just 84 minutes in the facility's hallowed terrifying halls.

Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore confirmed Lindsay's arrival and said that she was currently undergoing the standard medical and psychological triage routine that's typical of any new inmate.

"At about 10:11 this morning, Ms. Lindsay Lohan was booked into our facility to begin her sentence," he announced. "She has been extremely cooperative and everything is going smoothly."

He said the remand order is currently being reviewed and that the department did not yet have a projected release date. He also shot down a reporter's query as to whether the star would get the so-called Paris Hilton treatment while in lockup.

"There's no such thing as that," he said, adding, "people with this kind of notoriety are kept away from the general population."

Holley and D.A. Dannette Meyers also offered up similarly curt press conferences this morning.

"I think Lindsay is a talented young woman," Holley said. "She's scared as anyone else would be but she is resolute and she is doing it.

"Lindsay is complying with court orders and she asks for your prayers."

Meyers added that she was "absolutely satisfied with the outcome of today's hearing."

"It went as expected, everything is fine. I think the sentence handed down was fair."

This time around, Lindsay will prove particularly unfortunate if she ends up serving much longer than three weeks. So overcrowded are the Los Angeles County jails that nonviolent offenders rarely serve more than 25 percent of their original sentence, which in Lindsay's case would be just 22 1/2 days.

Taking into account this morning's events, that means she may already be down to 22. See how time flies? She'll be back booking Disney movies in no time.

    Well, she'll be back, anyway

Lindsay Lohan Ditches Sober House, Loses Lawyer on Eve of Jail

Lindsay Lohan, Robert Shapiro David McNew/Getty Images; Jesse Grant/Getty Images

So much for Lindsay Lohan's legal Dream Team.

On the eve of her surrender, the jail-bound starlet's incoming attorney, former O.J. Simpson defender Robert Shapiro, stepped down following a private meeting with the judge who's been presiding over Lohan's case, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Shapiro publicly acknowledged just days ago that he was representing the troubled actress on the condition that she comply "with all of the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time."

She's due to turn herself in this morning, so what went wrong?!

Last week, she checked into Pickford Lofts, which was started by Shapiro after he lost his son, Brent, to a drug overdose in 2005. Shapiro was spotted heading into the building Thursday, as was Lohan's assistant.

Though ostensibly a positive step, it may have been Lohan's brief stay at the Los Angeles residence that made things worse. A source tells E! News that Shapiro was not happy with her behavior there.

"She was unruly," the source says. "She was having people over at all hours of the night. She acted like she ran the place."

The actress was apparently out of the facility by Monday. Her assistant was spotted there late in the evening, removing some of the star's personal belongings, but there was no sign of Lohan aside from a smart-alecky Twitter posting.

"The only 'bookings' that i'm familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i'd be "booking" into Jail... eeeks," the onetime Parent Trap star tweeted Monday.

According to various reports, Lohan had a tough weekend, nibbling on her nails and chain-smoking as she dreaded being locked up Tuesday—even though she'll probably only end up serving less than a quarter of her sentence.

As of Monday, the L.A. District Attorney's Office had no advance knowledge of an attempt on Lohan's part to appeal her sentence, though a source close to her had told E! News that Lindsay wanted to spend her 90 days in a locked-down rehab facility, rather than jail (after which, she'll have to go to court-ordered rehab anyway).

Lohan's expected at the Beverly Hills Courthouse at 8:30 a.m., after which she's due to be transported to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

It's unclear now who will be representing Lohan in court. Calls to Shapiro and the attorney he was supposed to be replacing, Shawn Chapman Holley, have not yet been returned. Holley never signed the paperwork that would have officially removed herself as Lohan's counsel.

Five Things You Need to Know About Lindsay Lohan's Pending Jail Stint

    Lindsay LohanJason Merritt/Getty Images

eonline.com - Lindsay Lohan is going to do the time—even though she remains in denial.

"She's really nervous," a source close to the actress tells E! News. "She is still hoping she is not going to jail." Meanwhile, back in reality...

Lindsay is due to surrender herself tomorrow to begin serving her 90-day sentence, which will likely be shortened drastically due to overcrowding (25 percent of the original sentence is about as much as gets served these days).

After appearing in court, she will likely be shuttled to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif. And here's what you need to know about Lindsay's new digs:

It Has Celebrity Cachet. Does the name Paris Hilton ring a bell? Her in-and-out 2007 jail stint began and ended in Lynwood when she decided to accept responsibility and served 23 days for violating her probation on a reckless driving charge. In 2008, Khloé Kardashian Odom served four hours and 37 minutes for violating a DUI charge, during which time she was placed under solitary confinement and the jail received three bomb threats. Nicole Richie served a scandalous 82 minutes for her 2007 drug-enabled wrong-way DUI. Pretty Wild reality starlet (and convicted robber-to-the-stars) Alexis Neiers is currently in lockup there, which, barring her immediate release, could make for some awkward meetings in the common area. LiLo herself is familiar with the environs; former inmate No. 1059383 served out a whopping 84 minutes at the facility back in 2007 stemming from (guess what?) her DUI arrests.

It'll Ruin Her Diet of Kombucha and Cigarettes. LiLo won't be getting any special treatment, so she'll have to follow the rules as they stand: Dina, Ali and Samantha Ronson (but not Michael) can pop in to say hi anytime during the facility's visiting hours, 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekends (weekdays are for lawyers and professional visits only). Seven ministries have a presence in the jail and there are daily meetings for Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. On-site officials must approve any prescriptons. Lynwood is a no-smoking facility. Care packages are also accepted, provided they don't include money, food, cosmetics (no more fun with nail polish, then) or weapons. Also off-limits? String bracelets. So you can cross Kabbalah off the office pool of religions she may find in the slammer.

Michelle Rodriguez Is Not Impressed. The erstwhile Lostie and recognized Hollywood badass was locked up (uh, for less than a day) back in 2007 and while she served out her pittance at Twin Towers, not Lynwood, she doesn't exactly rate LiLo's digs in terms of hard-coreness. Which, we're guessing, is just fine by Lindsay. "You know what, they opened [Lynwood] up because the majority of people with misdemeanors were getting locked up with real criminals," she told the Awful Truth at the time. "And the problem was the overcrowding in the jail. Not that I was lucky, but my case was just a statistical problem, and now they've solved that. They opened up a jail for misdemeanors, and that's what you're talking about." In other words, LiLo is bound for Camp Cupcake.

It's Girl-on-Girl. The Century Regional Detention Facility, which currently houses about 1,800 inmates, is an all-female jail. Paris found solace in that fact, gushing after her stint that the inmates were "very supportive" and that she often talked to her fellow inmates through the vents of her cell. Lindsay will be assigned to a 12-foot-by-8-foot cell featuring two bunks (with 4-inch green vinyl foam mattresses), a toilet, sink, stool, tabletop and 6-inch window after getting photographed, fingerprinted and searched. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said earlier this month that LiLo would likely be separated from the general population "for her protection as well as the jail staff."

eonline.com - Lindsay Lohan is going to do the time—even though she remains in denial.

Lindsay Lohan Will Do Time, New Lawyer Says

Robert Shapiro has officially filed papers to replace Shawn Chapman Holley as Lindsay Lohan’s attorney in her DUI case - and it could be the best thing for her.

Not because he's got some legal rabbit to pull out of a hat and save her from jail, but for the opposite reason. He's apparently convinced her to face the music.

Lohan’s next court date is Tuesday, July 20, at which point the star must turn herself in to begin serving a 90-day sentence for violating her DUI probation.

Shapiro, who must be approved by Judge Marsha Revel as Lohan's counsel before he can officially represent her, issued a statement to Access Hollywood Friday.

In it, he confirms he has taken the case, but only on one condition – that the troubled actress accept the judge’s decisions, including the “requirement of jail.”

    Say WhaaaaatBob Shapiro
Lindsay's new legal eagle may be just what she needs - to get help.

“I have agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition she comply with the terms of probation, including a requirement of jail, imposed by Judge Revel,” he said.

“Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with. Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Ms. Lohan and Judge Revel in implementing a treatment approach recommended by medical professionals for Ms. Lohan’s long term recovery.”

One of Shapiro’s sons, Brent, died of a drug overdose in 2005.

Lohan checked into a sober living house at the Pickford Lofts, founded by Shapiro. It is possible that Judge Revel could eliminate, reduce or postpone jail and simply keep Lohan there, but regardless, it's good Shapiro has her on the right path.

Lindsay Lohan in GQ: Where is the Ankle Monitor?

Lindsay Lohan recently posed for the German issue of GQ, and we have to admit, looks more or less attractive and even coherent in the first pics released.

The weird thing? There's no signs of her court-ordered ankle monitor - and we know she had it on because it was visible in the behind-the-scenes photos.

Not that it matters, of course, and it's hard to blame GQ for not wanting to distract its readers from an otherwise enticing set of Lindsay Lohan pictures.

But it makes you wonder. How much airbrushing goes on, even when there is no SCRAM device involved? Take a look at Lindsay in Germany's GQ below:

In German GQCave Girl HuntLohan: German GQ CoverAnkle Monitor is Off!
CAVE GIRL HUNT: Lindsay gets in touch with her primitive side.

As we reported yesterday, Lindsay is reportedly in rehab ahead of the July 20 court date at which she will be officially sentenced for violating her probation.

Hopefully she's allowed to stay there, rather than report to prison.

She faces a 90-day jail term, but by proactively checking herself into a sober living house, which she should have done months ago, she took a big step.

We just hope the judge sees it that way and Lindsay can get well.
